KM 55 Safety Recall Downloads

Please download and read the documents carefully and follow all directions accordingly. This is a safety recall and in certain circumstances could potentially result in injury.

This recall involves the clutch drum retaining clip that holds the drum to the crankshaft that may become dislodged allowing he clutch drum to move out of place. This in turn could let the clutch shoes fly outward from the machine. STIHL has received no reports of injuries at this time.

The models affected are the KM 55, KM 55 R, KM 55 RC, FS 55 RT, and FS 55T, with serial numbers lower than 263868001.

Assembly Instructions for BR 500, BR 550, and BR 600

When assembling the blower tubes and tube clamps during new machine set-up, it is especially important to install the blower tubes and clamps properly. Incorrect placement of the bellows tube and clamps can result in the clamp breaking as the screw is tightened.

STIHL has issued a Tech Bulletin to assist dealers in properly assembling the blower tubes. Take special note of the connection from the bellows tube to the elbow that exits the blower housing. Similar instructions are also contained in the Instuction Manual supplied with the machines.
