Q. What is a STIHLDealer.net PowerChord Website?
A.
It's a STIHL-based website that can be used to provide information about the Dealer's business and about STIHL Products. A link to the dealer's PowerChord site will appear beside their entry in the STIHL Dealer Locator and visitors to a dealer’s PowerChord website can search STIHL’s entire product line. Any product information a visitor could look for on www.stihlusa.com is now fully searchable on a dealer’s PowerChord site. This is an incredible value! Imagine visitors reading about STIHL Products with your business name and location branded on the same webpage!

Q. Can I see a demo of what a PowerChord website looks like?
A.
Absolutely. STIHL’s demo is located at: http://www.stihldealer.net/links/ CDC?BME also has a demo set up that shows some of the more sophisticated customization that can be done on a PowerChord site. Some of the arrays such as the photos and text on the “About Us” page require knowledge of basic web “html.” The demo site is located at: http://www.stihldealer.net/?dealer=testcrader

Q. What will the URL (Internet Address) of my site be?
A
.The basic PowerChord address is: http://www.stihldealer.net/?dealer=number where "number" stands for your CDC?BME Account Number with enough zeros in front of it to make a six digit number. (i.e., if your account number is 1234, your PowerChord number is 001234.) Because this address is difficult to remember and advertise, CDC?BME a unique web “address” (ie., www.yourdealership.us) that is registered by CDC?BME in the dealer’s name. The cost is included in the PowerChord fee.

Q. How much does a PowerChord site cost?
A.
In 2007, a PowerChord website for a primary location costs $200 per year, billing to begin in the first full month after signup and renew annually.

Q. What if I have more than one dealership?
A
. For a one-time set-up fee of $100 per additional “secondary” dealership, STIHL will add a link from the Dealer Locator to the primary PowerChord site. Once the multiple link has been established, CDC·BME will manually add information about the secondary site(s) to the primary PowerChord site.

Q. Are Terms available?
A
.Yes. One-third at 30, 60, & 90 days.

Q. What happens when I sign up for a PowerChord website?
A.
After your Territory Manager sends your sign-up information to Connie Bennett at CDC?BME, your account information will be sent to PowerChord, who then sets up your website. This set up includes some generic text created by STIHL Inc. so that your website won’t appear to visitors as an empty shell. Once the basic site is set up, PowerChord will send you an email with your login address (URL), password, instructions, and a 1-800 Help number. Within a day or two, a “View Site” arrow with a link to your PowerChord site will appear next to your entry in the STIHL Dealer Locator. Dealers should visit their site and customize the text areas of their site, providing visitors with specific information about their business.

Q.How do I link my existing website TO the PowerChord site?
A
.Give the webmaster of your existing site the address: http://www.stihldealer.net/?dealer=000000 (your account number plus enough zeros to make a 6-digit number). Tell your webmaster to link all STIHL logos, graphics, or text links to that address. (If you currently have links to stihlusa.com on your website, CHANGE THEM TO YOUR POWERCHORD ADDRESS!) This will allow your web visitors to search STIHL’s entire product database from your PowerChord site, which will be branded with your contact information!

Q. How do I create a link FROM PowerChord to my existing website?
A.
Login to the administration area of your PowerChord site. Click on: Site Info>Review Site Information. In the gray box after the label “Store Website http://” type your site URL beginning with the www. Please observe the following restrictions:

1) The link MUST go to a page with no competing handheld products. You may NOT link to your home page if it contains logos, links, or images associated with any competing hand-held OPE manufacturer. If your home page contains logos, links, or competing products, you MUST create a page within your website that is devoted only to STIHL OR purchase a unique domain name for your PowerChord website.

Q. What is my “username” and my “password”?
A.
Your “username” is your CDC?BME dealer number. A generic password will be assigned to you in your Welcome Letter from PowerChord. You should go into your PowerChord Retailer Administration area and change it to something unique at your earliest convenience. There is a “Change Password” link in the Dealer Admin area.

Q .How hard is a PowerChord website to set up?
A
.Not hard at all, but it does require some thought and a little bit of effort. The program has a Set Up Wizard that will walk you through the setup. You can upload your company logo or a banner graphic (max size 425 pixels wide). You may change your information at any time and as often as you like. (WARNING: Dealers who have paid for one or more secondary location on their Primary site must exercise caution when making any changes to the site to avoid deleting the secondary location text that CDC·BME adds to the site manually or may accidentally wipe out the manually added text.)

Q .What kind of website maintenance is required after I get my site set up?
A.
Since your PowerChord site has an email form that web visitors can use to ask you questions, you should monitor your email regularly. You can change your Store News or other information as often as you want. IMPORTANT: If you change your email address, be sure to let us know or potential customers will not be able to reach you through your contact information on the PowerChord site!

Q. Can I tell how many visitors my PowerChord site receives?
A
.Yes. Click on the Reports button in your Administration area to view the number of visitors your PowerChord site has received since its inception.

Q. Are there any restrictions on customized content of my PowerChord site?
A.
Yes. No competing products may be mentioned on the PowerChord site. PowerChord sites are monitored to assure compliance.

Q. Is there anything that makes one PowerChord site different from another?
A.
You can create a Banner header (a .jpg or .gif formatted image with a maximum width of 425 pixels). You might want to use your company logo or create a banner that matches your existing website. Customized art/logos make a big difference in the professional image of your PowerChord site, as does customized text that tells the visitor about your retail outlet. It is possible to create a small but informative and memorable website with a little work (and some web know-how). For an example of how customized your website can be, visit
http://www.stihldealer.net/?dealer=testcrader . When your PowerChord site is initially set up, CDC-BME creates and uploads a customized banner with the information provided on your Registration Form. Dealers are free to delete this banner and replace it at any time.

Q. What do I do if I have a technical or other problem while setting up my PowerChord site?
A.
Call the 1-800-350-0981 Technical assistance number Monday - Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Eastern Time. Only the people at PowerChord can help you with technical problems.

Q. Who can I talk to if I have questions about what I'm allowed to put on my PowerChord site?
A.
You can call Connie at CDC-BME 573-238-2675 ext. 255 with questions about your billing, terms, or site content.
