The Company Crader Distributing Company, headquartered in Marble Hill, Missouri, is proud to be the exclusive distributor of STIHL Outdoor Power Equipment in Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska and Southern Illinois. Along with the company's sister organization, Blue Mountain Equipment in McKinney, Texas, which services Texas and Oklahoma, CDC provides quality STIHL outdoor power equipment to over 1300 OPE dealers throughout the Midwest. A family-owned business with a long history of providing superior customer service, CDC takes great pride in the atmosphere of trust and mutual respect it enjoys with the businesses it supplies.
A Matter of PerceptionThe family roots of Crader Distributing span four generations, from Buford Crader, who began the company with two partners in 1944, through Buford's son, Don, the current CEO; his grandchildren, Stan, Val, and Becky, the CDC President, CFO and parttime finance officer, respectively; and even three of Buford's great-grandchildren, have joined the company, learning the business from the ground up and making their contribution to the company's future. It is impossible for a company to have family roots as deep as Crader's
without the concept of family greatly influencing the corporate culture.
However, different people view Crader Distributing differently, and
the company is proud of the perceptions it enjoys. STIHL perceives CDC……as a strong business partner with a stable line of succession that ensures a reliable, profitable business association into this new decade and beyond. Crader has received numerous accolades from STIHL though the years, including their prestigeous Distributor of the Year award in recognition of its outstanding sales, technical service and customer service. Our DEALERS perceive CDC……as more of a friend than a business partner. CDC has done business with many of our family-owned dealers for nearly 50 years, and they know that a handshake at Crader's means the same thing now that it meant when Don was on the road as the company's only salesman, calling orders in to his wife Nancy to be filled out of their home basement every night . Newer customers whose ties aren't as deep, perceive CDC and BME as
a company dedicated to superior service and the success of their businesses. Our COMMUNITIES perceive CDC……as a company committed to the growth, prosperity, and stability of the community as a whole. When Crader's was founded in rural Bollinger County, Missouri, in 1944, the population of the county was 10,000. It remains the same today, and CDC's contributions to the area take many forms, as do the contributions of Blue Mountain in its community of McKinney, Texas. In addition to generous financial support of national, regional and local charities, CDC and BME actively support local endeavors like Mid-America Teen Challenge, the Bollinger County Drug Dog, and the Heard Museum in McKinney. The CDCBME management teams serve on various committees in their respective Chambers of Commerce, and both companies routinely donate equipment to municipal and county governments as well as educational institutions. The OPE INDUSTRY perceives CDC……as an innovator and a leader. CDC was one of the first businesses in the outdoor power equipment industry to utilize a computer in its day-to-day operations. Software was developed in-house and marketed to other wholesale distributors, and the company has been a leader in information systems and automation, being the first to develop an in-house bar-code driven manifest system. CDC was also a leader in the development of an electronic data interchange system with our customers and vendor, and was one of the first companies to utilize fax machines and laptop computers for our Field Sales Consultants. CDC and BME's management teams members are known for their leadership on the national level, as well. In February 2000, CDC President, Stan Crader, completed a term as president of the Outdoor Power Equipment Distributors of America (OPEDA). Our EMPLOYEES perceive themselves……as valued members of the CDC family and respected members of "Team STIHL." Crader's management, from the CEO down recognizes that the company's greatest asset is the hard work and dedication of its employees. That atmosphere of respect and recognition, which also takes the form an employee benefit package, incentive bonuses, and a 401K profit sharing plan, makes Crader one of the region's most valued employers.
